Partner 17: University Pierre et Marie Curies, Paris, France Scientist responsible: Prof Charles Duyckaerts
Description of our organisation:
The Neuropathology Laboratory of La Salpêtrière Hospital was created in 1964. It is both a Hospital and a University facility. For the Hospital, it is in charge of cerebral biopsies (mainly tumors), of neuromuscular biopsies (for muscle disease and peripheral neuropathy) and of post-mortem examination (of cases with neurological diseases as well as of cases dying from other diseases in the hospitals located in the Eastern part of Paris). The laboratory participates to National Networks of Brain Banks and belongs to the European Network BrainNet Europe. The laboratory is involved in teaching programs (Pierre et Marie Curie University, Paris VI) and in research. It hosts a research group "Alzheimer disease / Prions disease" co-directed by Stéphane Haïk and Charles Duyckaerts, belonging to the Research Center of the Brain and Spinal Cord Institute (ICM). The research team on Alzheimer disease includes 3 senior scientists (Charles Duyckaerts, Marie-Claude Potier and Benoît Delatour), 1 engineer (Luce Dauphinot), 2 post-doctoral students (Maï Panchal and Adina Lazar), 2 doctorate fellows (Jack Cossec and Claire Perruchini).
